The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.
Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.
Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.
Wow!! This book… Lauren Layne does it again… I don’t think there is one book she’s written that I don’t love. The characters are always so well written that they come alive on the pages. She is a master at making the reader engage in the story and make them feel every masterful emotion she’s incorporated into the pages.
I want to say that I fell in love with the setting of this book. It’s based in a small town called Lucky Hollow in Montana. Now, I’m not sure if Lauren herself is actually a small town girl or not but she managed to portray the small town charm onto pages very well. I live in a small town in Alberta, Canada where people still smile and say hi to each other on the streets, and the only way you announce your entrance to a friends house is one rap of the knuckle on the door, open and yell ‘hello, I’m here!!!’. While reading this book, I felt like I was in Lucky Hollow, Montana that’s for sure. This book oozed of small town friendliness and charm that if this is actually a real place, I want to go there in real life. 🙂
Let’s talk about the characters, I mean who wouldn’t swoon for a sweet, charming firefighter who rescues kittens from burning buildings and is a bit moody and broody. 😍 Luke Elliot is definitely going into my top favourite book boyfriends list. 💖💕 How about Jordan; beautiful, successful and headstrong and knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get out there and get it. They both come with a perfect doze of flaws but you learn to overlook them the more you fall in love with these two main characters.
The secondary characters on the other hand, wow what show stealers. They are fantastically funny and have meddling minds and are scheming a ‘let’s get these two out of their funk’ plot. What’s not to love??!!
If I keep writing about the characters or the book anymore, I’m going to give everything away, so… I’ll leave you by saying, this book is just fantastic and that’s why I have given it a 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review.
