Hello to you dear reader! I am so happy you’ve stumbled onto my blog. Before I get into any big spiel about who I am, I want to say thank you and it’s nice to meet you. This is a new thing that I am trying out and hoping to keep it light and entertaining for all that stumbles upon it. This blog will be about my love of books, it’ll include unique reviews, book discussions, and top 10 lists. But for now, without further a due; here is a little info about me.
Fun Facts about Me:
I am 33 years old and have beautiful 2.5 year old baby girl and a fantastic husband who’s my best friend and my rock in life. We live in a small town called Cochrane in Alberta, Canada. Our little town is famous for the little ice cream shop called MacKay’s, actors and actresses like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have even made a stop to go there.
My husband and I met in 2009 in a sports bar during a Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers hockey game. I was there with my roommate (at that time) and her boyfriend and he was there with his best friends. Sometime during the game, I decided to go mingle with the crowd in hopes of meeting new people (I was new in town then). While walking around, I was also keeping an eye out on the game, and my team (Calgary Flames) kept on missing all the scoring opportunities they got. Without thinking any further, I grabbed the first person I saw in a Flames jersey around the shoulders and shook him saying “I swear to God, this team cannot score for the life of them” and walked away. Not even 10 minutes later, the same person that I shook came to my table and asked if he could buy me a drink. In 2012 we got married in Jamaica and in 2014 we’ve welcomed our beautiful baby girl to the world.
I love sports. Watching and playing. I spend my fall and winter season playing in a recreational all women’s volleyball league. Our team is called “Something Fancy” and I am one of 2 setters that we have in the team. In the spring and summer time, I play beer league mixed softball as a back catcher.
Last year (2016) I have completed my first 5K obstacle course (Inflatable 5K) and loved it and have registered for 2 more this year (2017) (Rugged Maniac and Foam Fest). It’s rumored that Rugged and Foam Fest are quite a bit harder than the Inflatable run but with a little training (hmmm… I should get on this…) I should be able to complete them too. Fingers crossed…
I love reading books, usually lean towards the romance, dystopian and historical fiction genres and a few of my favorite books are written by Lauren Layne, Paullina Simons, and Pam Jenoff. Ps: I am a nerd at heart and can’t live without re-reading the Harry Potter series at least once every couple of years.
I got a college diploma for Tourism Management, and don’t use it at all for my current job. I am currently a government employee, helping immigrants and refugees settle in Canada.
Speaking of immigrants in Canada, I myself am one. I am a duel citizen. I was born and raised (until I was 17) in Antalya, Turkey. I was awarded a scholarship to go to USA on an exchange student program and graduated high school in a very small town in Wisconsin called Gillett. From there on I took an English language level test and past and got accepted to a University/College in Nanaimo, BC Canada. Got my diploma in 2005 and moved to Alberta. Just very recently (May 2015) became a Canadian Citizen.
There is so much more to tell you all about me but for now, this is me in a nut shell.
